WEBVTT 00:04.099 --> 00:06.369 Hello everyone , I'm Isabel Bayham with 00:06.369 --> 00:08.536 the Human Capital Management Office at 00:08.536 --> 00:10.536 the Defense Counterintelligence and 00:10.536 --> 00:12.425 Security Agency . And if you're a 00:12.425 --> 00:14.480 student interested in learning about 00:14.480 --> 00:16.647 national security , we are looking for 00:16.647 --> 00:18.647 you to participate in our next DCSA 00:18.647 --> 00:20.480 student experience . Our student 00:20.480 --> 00:22.591 interns bring incredible value to the 00:22.591 --> 00:24.869 agency , and they gain a whole lot too , 00:24.969 --> 00:27.191 including a security clearance . Here's 00:27.191 --> 00:29.025 a look at one student intern who 00:29.025 --> 00:31.191 enjoyed her DCSA student experience so 00:31.191 --> 00:33.358 much she came back for a second time . 00:33.700 --> 00:35.811 I just want to work with people and I 00:35.811 --> 00:37.978 want , I want to help people a lot and 00:37.978 --> 00:40.089 I feel like this job is a good way to 00:40.089 --> 00:42.256 protect the citizens of this country , 00:42.256 --> 00:44.589 and so I'm really passionate about that . 00:44.589 --> 00:46.422 The job DCSA student intern Nora 00:46.422 --> 00:48.422 Crawford Reference is the one she's 00:48.422 --> 00:50.589 continuing in her second summer cohort 00:50.589 --> 00:52.367 with the agency , the role of a 00:52.367 --> 00:54.367 background investigator . just like 00:54.367 --> 00:56.589 follow that and and go ahead and , OK . 00:56.589 --> 00:58.811 One of the most interesting things that 00:58.811 --> 01:00.867 stood out to her , the common thread 01:00.867 --> 01:03.033 amongst all background investigators , 01:03.033 --> 01:05.144 trusting your intuition . I feel like 01:05.144 --> 01:07.089 people might think of it as a very 01:07.089 --> 01:09.200 black and white operation . You , you 01:09.200 --> 01:08.760 ask certain questions , you get certain 01:08.760 --> 01:10.871 answers , but it can honestly just go 01:10.871 --> 01:12.982 in a billion different ways . Nora is 01:12.982 --> 01:14.816 an international policy master's 01:14.816 --> 01:16.982 student at the University of Georgia . 01:16.982 --> 01:18.704 Her undergraduate degree is in 01:18.704 --> 01:20.927 international relations , and while she 01:20.927 --> 01:22.816 values the lessons learned in the 01:22.816 --> 01:24.816 classroom , she also recognizes the 01:24.816 --> 01:26.871 knowledge she gains in the workforce 01:26.871 --> 01:28.760 can't be taught from a lectern or 01:28.760 --> 01:30.927 whiteboard . Yeah , I'm learning a lot 01:30.927 --> 01:33.038 of great things in school . All of it 01:33.038 --> 01:35.038 will be super beneficial to the job 01:35.038 --> 01:37.260 that I want one day in the government , 01:37.260 --> 01:39.371 but . I think the experience that you 01:39.371 --> 01:41.427 get with an internship is completely 01:41.427 --> 01:43.482 unmatched . She's intelligent , well 01:43.482 --> 01:45.316 spoken . Um , I actually did her 01:45.316 --> 01:47.339 interview to hire her and and I was 01:47.339 --> 01:49.699 very impressed . Obviously we get a 01:49.699 --> 01:51.866 chance to , uh , you know , teach them 01:51.866 --> 01:53.866 the way we do things and , and give 01:53.866 --> 01:55.921 them an opportunity to see what they 01:55.921 --> 01:57.977 could do here and and hopefully help 01:57.977 --> 02:00.199 convince them that this is the place in 02:00.199 --> 02:02.366 the direction they really want to go . 02:02.366 --> 02:04.532 And the message Nora's mentors want to 02:04.532 --> 02:06.755 offer to other college students is that 02:06.755 --> 02:08.977 an internship at DCSA can open doors to 02:08.977 --> 02:11.088 serve the country no matter where you 02:11.088 --> 02:12.979 live . It's not just , you know , 02:13.130 --> 02:15.600 living in in the DC area and make a 02:15.600 --> 02:17.767 difference . It's , you know , you can 02:17.767 --> 02:19.378 make a difference from small 02:19.378 --> 02:21.378 communities all over the country in 02:21.378 --> 02:23.600 doing what we do and and I think that's 02:23.600 --> 02:25.767 that's a pretty , pretty big impact to 02:25.767 --> 02:27.878 be you know in small town America and 02:27.878 --> 02:27.639 making a difference at the national 02:27.639 --> 02:29.806 level . I think that's what our agency 02:29.806 --> 02:31.806 can give to people . It's what it's 02:31.806 --> 02:33.972 given to me over the years . If you're 02:33.972 --> 02:35.750 interested in learning more and 02:35.750 --> 02:37.417 applying for the DCSA Student 02:37.417 --> 02:39.583 Experience summer 2026 cohort , please 02:39.583 --> 02:41.695 follow the link at the bottom of this 02:41.695 --> 02:43.861 video . And if you're selected for the 02:43.861 --> 02:45.917 program , you may have the chance to 02:45.917 --> 02:48.139 share what you've learned by presenting 02:48.139 --> 02:50.361 your capstone project at the end of the 02:50.361 --> 02:52.417 summer cohort showcase . And whether 02:52.417 --> 02:54.528 you end up working at DCSA or another 02:54.528 --> 02:56.750 national security agency , one thing is 02:56.750 --> 02:58.917 certain , you will be prepared to take 02:58.917 --> 03:00.972 on the next level of challenges with 03:00.972 --> 03:03.139 the knowledge and skills you gained by 03:03.139 --> 03:05.028 participating in the DCSA student 03:05.028 --> 03:05.949 experience . Thank you for watching .
