QUANTICO, Va. – The Defense Information System for Security (DISS) will begin migration and modernization at 6 p.m. on August 1 and continue through Sunday August 3, as part of the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency’s (DCSA) “Cloud Smart” strategy under the National Background Investigation Services (NBIS).
This transition aligns with the Department of Defense’s (DoD) approach to leveraging cloud computing for improved capabilities and efficiencies and aims to enhance security, streamline operations and improve overall customer experience.
“These migrations and modernization efforts will offer improved access for federal agencies, enhanced security features and streamlined clearance verification processes,” said Lindley Earl, NBIS deputy program manager. “In addition, it will position DCSA and agency customers for the future by reducing costs, improved system/application performance and incorporating the correct data architecture to enable future scalability.”
DISS users will not be able to access the system during this outage. Once the migration is complete and the system is restored, DISS users will access the system in the same manner they do today. System functionality and navigation will remain unchanged after deployment and users can access all DISS components through the current URLs: https://www.dcsa.mil/Systems-Applications/Defense-Information-System-for-Security-DISS
DCSA is committed to migration and modernization of capital investments to the DoD Joint Warfighting Cloud Capability (JWCC) as part of its broader IT modernization and strategic plan. This transition benefits from the Defense Department's cybersecurity infrastructure to enhance security, improve access to services and data, and accelerate the retirement of physical/on-premise systems.
