DCSA launches Department of War Mentor-Protégé Program

QUANTICO, Va. – The Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) is the newest agency participant in the Department of War (DOW)’s Mentor-Protégé Program. DCSA’s Office of Small Business Programs and Industry Engagements (OSBP&IE) is managing agency execution of the program.

Funded through the DOW Office for Industrial Base Growth, the Mentor-Protégé Program is the oldest continuously operating federal mentor-protégé program in existence.

Originally established in 1990, it facilitates opportunities for small businesses to expand their footprint in the national Defense Industrial Base through partnership agreements with more experienced defense contractor companies.

The program has a documented history of significant impact in expanding and strengthening the defense industrial base. Successful mentor-protégé agreements create a winning relationship for the protégé, the mentor and DOW. For mentors, the program provides a mechanism for them to develop valuable and qualified subcontracting partners. For protégés, the program offers an opportunity to gain critical knowledge, technical expertise and business development acumen, enhancing their ability to perform on contracts with the DOW, other federal agencies and commercial entities.

A Broad Agency Announcement announcing DCSA’s launch of its participation in the program was posted to the System for Award Management website on Feb. 27. It provides information on program eligibility, the application process, and submission requirements.

"DCSA's participation in the Department of War's Mentor-Protégé Program will expand and enhance our contributions to a national security priority: growing a capable, secure and resilient Defense Industrial Base," said DCSA OSBP&IE Chief Dr. Ruby Crenshaw-Lawrence. "By facilitating the industrial partnerships that the program fosters, we are not only developing small businesses but also strengthening our supply chains and ensuring the Department of War has access to the innovative solutions needed to protect our nation."
